Our Story

Voltis formed in 2019 when our founders came together with over a century of previous cumulative experience in renewables to embark on an ambitious joint venture, securing some of the largest connections in the UK. Our outstanding team is dedicated to improving how we generate energy, ensuring that truly sustainable and renewable energy is provided to protect our environment and generations to come.

We are determined to make a positive impact on the environment and on the communities in which we operate. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our projects and to make them more efficient and sustainable. Noah Hitchcox
Co-Founder
Noah began his career in Audit and Risk Compliance and left in 2013 to focus on growing a portfolio of operational wind projects. During the preceding 4 years he successfully acquired a number of consented wind projects, built and operated them. This business was successfully divested in 2017 to Aviva Investors. Noah is passionate about contributing and being part of the rapid transition to renewable generation.

James Madigan
Co-Founder
James built a London residential property portfolio of over 120 units. Exited in 2012 to focus on building a renewable business, James grew a large renewable development company focusing on mid and large-scale wind and solar. Having grown up on a dairy farm, James understands the challenges and opportunities faced by farmers. He continues to enjoy working with farmers to maximise and diversify their incomes, ensuring viability for future generations.

Technical Lead
Jack has a Mechanical Engineering degree and subsequently studied for another degree in Energy Engineering providing a complete understanding of electrical power systems. He has 5 years of experience where he produced solutions for a factory to increase energy efficiency, developed energy policies and provided systems to move toward carbon neutrality as part of their sustainable goals.

Acquisitions Lead
James has extensive experience in the renewable energy and development sector, specialising in legal negotiations, evaluating development risks and project financing. His attention to detail and ability to find commercial solutions keeps projects on track and ensures the satisfaction of all parties. With a background in securing land for various renewable energy projects and negotiating complex land and financing deals, James brings exceptional standards of practice to his role at Voltis.

Ian Fletcher
DCO Strategic Lead
Ian joined Voltis in June 2024 as the Strategic DCO Lead with over 35 years previous experience as a Chartered Town Planner. Having specialised in delivering Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects since 2008, Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Outside of delivering NSIPs, Ian was a founding member of the National Infrastructure Projects Association (NIPA) and served on the board from 2010 to 2024. He has won the RTPI Silver Jubilee Cup, Planning Magazine Award, and NIPA Project of the Year Award for his work on infrastructure projects.

Andrew joined Voltis with over 20 years of development and planning experience in various sectors. His strong understanding of planning and consenting processes and project management ensures that thorough and detailed projects are in exceptional hands. Having project managed in urban design, transport infrastructure, large residential and regeneration schemes, Andrew brings an innovative, rounded and methodical approach to renewable energy projects at Voltis.

Zak is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in acquisition and development. His hybrid skill set enables him to secure deals while having a complete understanding of project complexities. He spent 7 years at a South-East England residential property developer, overseeing schemes with a £79 million GDV, creating 207 homes, commercial units and community facilities. Specialising in challenging sites, he maximises project potential, successfully navigating planning processes, and optimising returns for investors and partners.

Natalie previously managed the accounts payable function for a global retail company and brings attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities to her work. She is able to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities with ease, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Additionally, Natalie is deeply committed to sustainability and reducing her carbon footprint and believes in leaving the planet in a better place than she found it.

Kevin’s background in renewable energy began when designing home heating solutions and for 3 years as an electrical engineer working on multiple projects including substations in Ireland. His studies in Engineering with a focus of Energy Systems Engineering, built Kevin’s technical design skills to a high level as well as his holistic understanding of the renewable energy industry.

Graduate Design Engineer
Will is a vital member of the technical team, focusing on identifying land parcels near grid connections and developing data for planning applications. He excels in the detailed design of site and layout plans for solar and battery projects. Will’s key strengths lie in his meticulous attention to detail and creative problem-solving. With years of prior experience in recruiting for renewable investment firms and designing domestic solar projects, he brings a valuable skill set to the team.

Land Manager
Alan has been involved in renewable development for over 20 years. He has an MBA in Technology Management and extensive experience in developing mid and large-scale onshore wind projects, leading to a number of projects being built across the UK. He has full life cycle experience including securing grid capacity, site finding, consenting, funding and construction.
